In prior volumes, he would have done just that. But now, he's all whatever to everyone and walks around the house. I hope there is a deeper meaning towards his changed attitude and it's not just bad writing. The artwork continues to be great, but there is a certain scene between Kyou and Misao late in the tome that fully turned me off. It was both pointless and somewhat offensive. I hope the next volume tries to pick things up a bit, or at least explains if there is a reason behind Kyo's behavior or this is just a really dumb plot hole.

The tengu clan immediately starts requesting her blood, as they believe they're entitled to because the clan "owns" her now.
Kyo shuts it down hard and fast, as he should.

The rival clans know that Misao is Kyo's weakness and start having minor demons possess humans and creating havok, which in turn also messes with Misao mentally. Kyo's dad makes an appearance toward the end of the volume which should be interesting continuing forward. Overall I wanted to give this volume a 3 but the extra story about Taro and Jiro after their attack from Sho brought that 4th star. I really wish Misao would stop crying so damn much! The main body of this volume is disappointingly short - We deal with the aftermath of Misao and Kyo becoming lovers - as well as the usual teen human angst of their uncertain feelings, we have the paranormal element - the foreboding of doom in the future as well as more immediate concerns such as fanatic Raikoh's reaction and Misao still being a demon magnet, now for the Tengu clan as well as other clans.

The highlight of this though is the bonus story expanding on the background of Kyo and the triplets Taro, Saburo and Jiro - We see how Jiro learns not to be jealous of his brother Taro. This might be my favorite volume yet. Now that Misao and Kyou have "consummated their love" they're not married yet lol , every youkai knows that the Senka is Kyou's.
And the tengus are like "cool, so let's use her blood already! Plus, the side story features the triplets and it's really cute. May 15, Sarah Gries rated it really liked it. With Kyo now healed he can fight off the enemies of Misao and the demon hunter. What we now know is the demon hunter may actually have feelings for Misao.
He also plays very dirty. Naughty demon hunter!
Black bird. [Volume 9] [graphic novel] / story and art by Kanoko Sakurakoji.
What tore me up the most was Kyo pushing Misao away after their intimacy they shared. Something is going on and it is hurting her so much, but Kyo will not share it with her. This is both cute and pulls at your heart at the same time. I wish some a lot parts were in Kyo's point of view so that it would overall make more sense. Oct 15, Nadina rated it really liked it Shelves: manga. I like that this series continues to find new problems. It is a good and fun series that is also really easy to read. Good story. After talking about it for eight volumes, Misao and Kyo finally do the deed in order to save Kyo's life, as he was cursed by Raikoh, who pretty much seems to just want Misao for himself and of course hates all demons because of what they did to him in the past - nothing changed there.
It was a bit anti-climatic. And then Kyo blows her off afterwards, typical guy, saying he doesn't want to be tempted anymore. What is Kobo Super Points?
All the other demons still wants to eat her for more power, and Kyo gets ridiculously powerful after Misao and him do it. Kyo's dad the former Master of the Clan shows up and says he knows who the traitor within in the clan is - cue dramatic music! Recommended for ages 16, 3 stars. Apr 26, Emy rated it really liked it Shelves: , shoujo-manga. But most demons want to keep her power for themselves - by eating her! Now Misao is just trying to stay alive She is worried his feelings for her may have changed.
This volume also contains the introduction of Kyo's father, but not much is known about him yet. As well, there are fears of a traitor in their midst! We also got another reminder about the nature of demons, and about how most of them just view Misao as a source of nourishment. It really added to the tension in places, but there were scenes of the volume that felt rather slow.
Kyo's dad is also an interesting character, especially as they don't seem to get on. I hope to find out more about him in the next volume. I also enjoyed the rumblings of the Tengu clan and the little glimpse we got into demon politics. I loved the bonus manga at the end, which focused on the character of Jiro and especially his relationship with his brother, Taro.
I would give the bonus back-story five stars. It made me tear up in places, and I decided that I really loved Jiro after it. I hope that Sakurakoji does more character back-stories! Looking forward to the next one. Shelves: , demons , library-book , manga , shojo. After the ending of the last volume, I believed the plot would venture onto something else, something deeper. Nay, Black Bird, Volume 9 opens up with Kyo claiming her virginity has no effect on her power so demons will still come for her.
I've gone through an entire series in a day or two, and if the story is compelling it holds my interest regardless. With all the attacks on the humans, Misao is allowing it to fill her with guilt. Her character seems to be regressing into the hopeless damsel in distress again. If poor Misao isn't stressed enough, good ol' Raikoh Watanabe returns to be a condescending jerk.
Can't stand that turd. Again, I am hoping that the next volume will bring some of the action and excitement that the earlier volumes had. The clan tensions and surprise visitor might make the next volume a little more thrilling. I've got my fingers crossed. I thought these stories were far more entertaining than the main plot.
I actually had been wishing that Kanoko Sakurakoji would do a feature on the triplets and she granted my wish. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it make me love Taro even more. And yay for a different looking cover that doesn't include Misao crying her eyeballs out! Kyo and Misao have finally slept together, in order for Kyo to gain the strength to break a deadly curse placed upon him by Raikoh. Now, they have to face the aftermath, as they're not sure what will happen to Misao now that she's been taken as Kyo's bride. Embarrassingly for Miaka, the other demon clans know this automatically apparently - they wake up to a messenger sent by the Kitsune clan bearing a congratulatory gift.
That doesn't mean they've given up, however. A series of attacks appear Kyo and Misao have finally slept together, in order for Kyo to gain the strength to break a deadly curse placed upon him by Raikoh. A series of attacks appear near Misao's home and high school by humans who have been possessed by demons - demons who appear to have inside information on Misao and Kyo, hinting at the presence of a spy. Further trouble comes when Kyo's clan begin to demand that they have access to Misao's blood to cure illnesses and strengthen themselves, a demand Kyo has no intentions of fulfilling.
Also featured is a flashback short starring the triplets.
Black Bird, Vol. 9
After the attack by Sho mentioned in prior volumes , the triplets must recover from their injuries and try to prove themselves worthy of joining the eight Daitengu. This was a good volume. More plot development. New mysteries coming up on top of the fact that they still have no idea what will happen now that Kyo has taken Misao as his bride. Shockingly enough, I felt really bad for Misao in this volume. I tend to get super irritated when it comes to that crazy emo that she was sportin', but perhaps because I like her I felt sad.

Oct 24, Vivian Lam rated it it was amazing. I think this book is good because you never know what is going to happen next. In this book Misao and Kyo have a weird relationship with each other. When they are together they always fight but they love each other. When they are apart they want to get back together. To me this is crazy because when you are with someone you love you don't fight you are suppose to enjoy the time you guys spend together. When a two guys were taken over by a demon they went after Misao.
I got scared but then Kyo ca I think this book is good because you never know what is going to happen next.
